Welcome to Class 1

Our Lent Term learning

Our year has been really busy so far.

We started by taking an exciting trip to Sundown Adventure with Class 2.

We had a very busy day exploring the park and playing with our friends.

Our new starters

We have welcomed some new friends into Class 2 this term.

We have all been really kind and we have helped them to settle in and to explore their new nursery.

We learned about different celebrations during the Advent term.

We made poppies for Remembrance Day and Mrs Amys was really proud of us when we all sat quietly for the one-minute silence.

For Diwali, we made Rangoli patterns outside on the floor with chalk, and made diya lamps out of salt dough.

As part of our Judaism week, we heard the story of ‘The Oil in the Lamp’ and made Menorahs using our handprints.

We made bonfire pictures for Bonfire Night, and Mrs Amys taught us all how to stay safe around fireworks.

Jack and the Beanstalk

We have been learning about transport and enjoyed reading the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.

We have made our own greenhouses and planted a bean. We are observing our bean and watching how it grows.

Religious Education in Class 1

In RE, we have enjoyed visiting the church.

We went on a ‘special object hunt’ to find different things. For example, the font, the pews and a crucifix.

When we went back to school, we each placed photographs of ourselves in the pews of church to show us gathering together like the parish family during Mass.

Our topic is now ‘Growing’. We are exploring how we grow on the inside to be more like Jesus.

Chinese New Year

We have continued to learn about other cultures by learning about Chinese New Year.

We did lots of exciting activities and even made our own dragon for a dragon dance!
