Curriculum

Saint Norbert’s is a Rights Respecting Catholic School. We strive to deliver a high quality curriculum – underpinned by Gospel values – that meets the needs of all our children. Our chosen sequence of learning is meaningful and engaging, designed to provide pupils with the opportunity to achieve well and experience a diverse range of enriching experiences.

Our planned intent is ambitious and our practice is informed by evidence-led research; it is planned to ensure the long-term retention of knowledge.

We are passionate about helping our children to fulfil their potential and develop learning behaviours which align closely with our Catholic Virtues to Live by. These behaviours include resilience; perseverance; respect for others; and independence in preparation for the future.

Our aim is to fully prepare the children to be happy, fulfilled and successful. We are interested in them achieving highly academically, but we also aim to provide an education which enables them to be ‘well-rounded’.

We give pupils many opportunities to develop their talents. We enjoy serving our community, understanding our own culture and that of others.

Spiritual development is very important to us and we also encourage our children to live by the Gospel values, treating others as they themselves would like to be treated. Welcoming others with good manners and respect is a daily part of our school life.

If you have any further questions about our curriculum, please ask at the Main Office.

Equality, Inclusion and SEND

Our curriculum is ambitious and inclusive for all pupils. We meet our duties under the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 by designing learning that is accessible, equitable and responsive to individual needs. Teaching is adapted to remove barriers, provide appropriate challenge, and ensure that all pupils – including those with special educational needs and disabilities – can access the same rich, carefully sequenced curriculum. Reasonable adjustments and targeted support are used to promote equality of opportunity, high expectations and positive outcomes for every child.
